Dream Lover

I wake from a dream,
awake I’m still dreaming
a familiar dream, dreamt
countless times just before daylight.

The dream is white and black,
black or white,
I’m in a palace built on slabs of ice,
a balmy blackness all around.

In the dream I am a child, sometimes,
my playmates spiders and butterflies,
I’m clothed in dewy spider-webs,
and I can fly, I can fly…

In the dream I’m a young female
sometimes, dancing,
dancing in a pristine swamp,
seducing a pale young man from Finland.

I’ m a woman sometime,
my hair, long, wavy, white,
my breast eager, my arms and legs
wrapped around a Shape in Blackness.

A roller coaster ride on snow-slopes,
then up over misty shores we float:
Now… Now… Now…
the Shape in Blackness and I.
